offered during matinees and evening
performances at the Post Playhouse,
the highly acclaimed and independently
operated summer repertory theatre
featuring popular Broadway musicals
with professional actors. The playhouse
is celebrating its 50th anniversary
this year and has many special events
scheduled to mark the occasion.
Horses, of Course
Visitors to Fort Robinson soon
realize they are in horse country. A
sign at the entrance of the headquarters
evokes visions of the park's history
as a cavalry post and remount station:
"Through These Portals Passed the
World's Finest Horsemen."
Horsemen and horsewomen of all
skill levels revel in a landscape fit for
a Western movie while the park offers
opportunities for riders of various skills.
Riders who bring their own horses
can used marked trails or venture off
the beaten path to explore the area.
Annual gatherings of horse enthusiasts,
such as the American Paint Horse
Association, have bolstered the park's
reputation as first-rate riding ground.
No special permission is required to
ride at Fort Robinson, but a few rules
have been established. To ensure park
safety and cleanliness, no riding is
allowed near lodging or camping areas.
Private horses also are not allowed
on the two trail ride routes while park
rides are in session. Overnight guests
with horses must rent a stall, but the
barn's location near a campground
specially designed for equestrian
