Time Well Spent
What to Do in July
J
uly is Nebraska's hottest month. The temptation may be to stay inside
and bask in the air conditioning, but braving the heat can lead to some of
summer's sweetest rewards. Read on for a few ideas to get started. For a full

Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area
Spend an afternoon on a white sandy beach sculpting
a sand creation during this annual contest. While
you're here, make a weekend of it and camp, boat
or fi sh at Lake McConaughy or Lake Ogallala state
recreation areas.
Get Ready for Fall
Hunting
Throughout the month
Statewide
Opening day will be here before you know it,
so take a little time each week to make sure
you're ready. To get in shape, start taking
walks and increase your distance as your
body allows. If a four-legged friend will be
with you on your hunts, bring this partner
along as well. It's also a good time to return
to the archery range, as bow season for deer
begins Aug. 1. In addition, take inventory
of the ammunition you'll need through the
season and start looking for sale items in
stores.
