While you're here, make a weekend of it and camp, boat or fi sh at Lake McConaughy or Lake Ogallala state recreation areas. Get Ready for Fall Hunting Throughout the month Statewide Opening day will be here before you know it, so take a little time each week to make sure you're ready. To get in shape, start taking walks and increase your distance as your body allows. If a four-legged friend will be with you on your hunts, bring this partner along as well. It's also a good time to return to the archery range, as bow season for deer begins Aug. 1. In addition, take inventory of the ammunition you'll need through the season and start looking for sale items in stores. PHOTO BY JULIE GEISER By Renae Blum
