dancing, drumming, bead making, and
moccasin making. Lakota Sioux elders
will perform an oral history.
"People can go to the village and talk
casually with them. It's more informal and
one-on-one," Beard said.
In addition to the encampments, lectures
and an interpretive center will provide
a fuller story of Ash Hollow history. A
separate display, The People's Fair, will
showcase exhibits created by families,
organizations and businesses who have
contributed to Lewellen and the Ash
Hollow area in more recent times. Chuck-
wagon meals, wagon trail rides and river
rides will also be held each day at Ash
Hollow State Historical Park, followed by
live entertainment and other activities in
Lewellen in the evenings.
A number of groups came together to
make Convergence on Sacred Ground
a reality, including the Friends of
Ash Hollow, the Nebraska Game and
Parks Commission, the Nebraska State
Historical Society, the Brulé Lakota and
interested citizens. In recognition of the
quality of the event, a governor-appointed
commission has selected Convergence
