This community has much to offer people looking for an outdoor experience or a night spent on the town. Do The West Point Community Theatre is renowned for its historic building and friendly staff of volunteers. Its mission is to be northeastern Nebraska's destination for families to enjoy shows of all sorts – ranging from entertaining to educational. This venue offers top-notch entertainment including recent movies, galas and live plays suitable for all ages. Bring your family in April to enjoy Gilligan's Island: The Musical. For information on dates, times and pricing, visit westpointcommunitytheatre.org. Eat Stop at the Hide-Away Grill if you are looking for a great place to eat dinner before enjoying a show. This steakhouse is a bit off the beaten path but worth the search. The staff are friendly and the food never disappoints. If you would rather have a fresh Mexican dish, then Fiesta Brava is your place. Generous portions at great prices, you'll be supporting the community's local meat businesses. Stay Dead Timber State Recreation Area offers areas for modern camping if you are looking to spend some time outdoors while traveling. The area has great opportunities for families to fish, hike, hunt and picnic while enjoying spring weather. Neligh Park also offers camping sites along with the option of renting a log cabin. If you are looking for more traditional lodging, you can rent a room at Horizon Inn and Suites or Super 8 Motel. Shop West Point has a variety of businesses for any shopping purposes you might have. Lana A Boutique offers a personalized shopping experience with 20 years in the business of helping people find what works best for them. Schmitt's Clothing is the premiere shop for men and offers everything from sportswear to suits. If you are in the mood for a cozy small town coffee shop, then pay Red Door Coffee a visit and try their delicious blueberry scones. Explore Take a quick trip to Indian Trails Country Club, just south of Beemer and about 11 miles away from West Point, for breathtaking views of the Elkhorn River Valley and its challenging 18-hole golf course. For a more family-friendly activity, take everyone to Main Street Bowl over the weekend. ■
