Photos should show people enjoying Nebraska outdoor activities, such as camping, boating, hunting or fishing, and must have been taken before 1980. Text may be edited and photos adjusted for reproduction. All photos will be returned. Enclosed is a picture of my father Paul "Bus" Gaver on the left and his best friend Ralph "Ducky" Drake on the right. This hunt took place on Nov. 18, 1953 and was unique because of the Canada geese taken. They were very rare where we hunted in those days. My dad and Ducky hunted this same spot for 35 years. It was the Paul Donogue farm just northwest of Duncan. I and my brothers all have great memories of growing up on the Loup River. Keep up the good work on your magazine, I have been a fan since the 1960s. – Steve Gaver, Columbus ▲ Pictured is George Weiss (myself) with dog Lady; Tim Weiss; and Red Kallhoff with dog Old Joe. A limit of pheasants taken in the early 1960s in Elgin, Nebraska. – George Weiss, Council Bluffs, Iowa ▲ A pheasant hunt four miles west of Schuyler in 1961 with: Everett Poohe – Schuyler farmer, deputy sheriff. Larry Bohaty – USDA, Lincoln; Dan Schmidt – science teacher, Clarkson; John Schmidt – 30-year Nebraska highway patrol, David City; Bob Schmidt – teacher and school administrator (myself), Jefferson, Iowa; Jim Schmidt – sales manager, Georgia; Harvey Schmidt – farmer (my father), Colfax County. We had a great hunt and still love Nebraska! – Bob Schmidt, Jefferson, Iowa ▲
