This month, when the last of the cool mornings
transition to the heat of summer evenings, participate
in one of the many activities that has captivated
outdoor enthusiasts in the Cornhusker State for the
past century.

Summer 1934
In the summer 1934 edition, a news
brief shared the following information:
"A brand new state park and recreation
grounds in Dixon County has been
handed to the Nebraska Game and
Parks Board as a gift .... The tract
contains 220 acres of scenic and partly
wooded bluff land ... situated two
miles north of Ponca."
Ponca State Park remains one of
Nebraska's most beautiful areas. Now
is the ideal time to RV or tent camp or
stay in one of its cabins and spend the
rest of your time trying to decide what
to do with all of the options in front of
you. Visit OutdoorNebraska.gov/parks.

June 1944 and June 1961
"Far too little has been said pertinent to the beauty and available vacation
resources furnished by Nebraska's State Parks," read the June 1944 issue of
Outdoor Nebraska. We can never say enough about the beauty of the state and
available vacation spots in Nebraska's state parks, but we've certainly tried in
the past 82 years.
This month, take a drive. The kids are out of school, and there is a fishing,
camping, hiking, biking and sit-in-a-lawn-chair spot with your name on it. Visit
OutdoorNebraska.gov to find a park to visit or make a reservation to stay.
