Grandfather's Buck, 1963
My grandfather, Herman Blankenau, was a native
German and World War I veteran for Germany. He grew
up wanting to hunt, but German restrictions didn't allow
it. He cherished being able to hunt in Nebraska.

A Lifelong Shotgunner, 1940
This is my mother, Darleen Butolph. She and my father,
Clarence, hunted together until he was drafted into the
Army during World War II. He was killed in action in France
in 1944, and my mother continued to hunt until 1990.

turned 28 years old
the following day.
