Finish spring turkey season strong Late May | Throughout the state To fi nish spring turkey season strong, adjust your strategy. Take advantage of the extra cover, and in the early mornings, target spots such as crop fi eld edges and shortgrass pastures. A single decoy – or none – may work best. Also, "don't stick with a call they're ignoring. If you hear a gobbler consistently answering a real hen, try to match her cadence and sound," writes Game and Parks' Aaron Hershberger.
