Here are a few more events and activities to keep you busy. Free Fishing and Park Entry Day May 18 | All Nebraska state parks, state recreation areas and state historical parks No permit, no problem. On May 18, spend the day fi shing or exploring a Nebraska state park, state recreation area or state historical park without the need to buy a permit. It's a great chance to visit a park you've never been to or see if fi shing is for you. Finish spring turkey season strong Late May | Throughout the state To fi nish spring turkey season strong, adjust your strategy. Take advantage of the extra cover, and in the early mornings, target spots such as crop fi eld edges and shortgrass pastures. A single decoy – or none – may work best. Also, "don't stick with a call they're ignoring. If you hear a gobbler consistently answering a real hen, try to match her cadence and sound," writes Game and Parks' Aaron Hershberger.
