A 30 percent discount lodging package will be offered. December 14 Christmas Bird Count This all-day event coincides with the National Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count. Birdwatchers of all ages are invited to compare notes and sighting reports. A chili feed will follow. December 27 Winterfest This event features the park's 3K Quest for the Yule Log, the National Championship Fruitcake Fling, seasonal crafts, lighted hayrack rides and more. January 1 First Day Hike Ponca State Park is offering a healthy start to your new year with this event. Guests are welcome to take part in unguided hikes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the conclusion of their hike, participants are encouraged to stop in at the Missouri National Recreational River Resource and Education Center to warm-up and enjoy a complementary cup of hot cider and cookies. January 16-18 Women's Wellness Weekend This new workshop includes presentations and activities on health and wellness, relaxation, meditation, self- improvement, outdoor recreation and more. February 1 Super Bowl Sunday Mini-lodge Package Special lodging discounts and incentives are available for Super Bowl weekend. February 14-15 Birds & Breakfast The focus of this event package is the Great Backyard Bird Count and Valentine's Day. Slated for this event are bird counts and tours, a Saturday morning breakfast, complementary wine or cider, lodging discounts and other activities. Ponca also remains one of Nebraska's premier wildlife viewing destinations, featuring 20 miles of hiking trails along the Missouri River. Ponca's Fruitcake Fling draws competitors of all ages.
