46 NEBRASKAland • DECEMBER 2014 Send contributions to: Portraits from the Past, NEBRASKAland Magazine, P.O. Box 30370, Lincoln, NE 68503-0370. Or e-mail to Tim.Reigert@Nebraska.gov. Photos should show people enjoying Nebraska outdoor activities, such as camping, boating, hunting or fishing, and must have been taken before 1980. We will give priority to unusual photos or activities. When possible, please include a story about the photograph and identify the people, places and approximate date it was taken. Photos will be returned. My sister, Kim Schaaf, and father, Lyle Clemens, were featured in the April 2014 NEBRASKAland Magazine with my dad's 19½ pound pike. I cannot be outdone once again by my sister! I am enclosing a picture of my mother, Jeanne Clemens, and me which was probably taken the summer of 1966 at Porter's gas station in Clay Center. Mom is holding her 33 pound, 8 ounce buffalo, which was a state record. Mom caught the monster buffalo on a spinner using 8-pound test line. The fish measured 38 inches long and 27 inches around (I am guessing the fish and I were about the same size!). – Lisa (Clemens) Hadenfeldt, Scottsbluff, Nebraska ▲ This picture is of Terry Rasmussen and his dog, Hank, in northern Howard County. We hunted there in the '50s to the '80s. Great times. – Hank Lokke, Omaha, Nebraska ▲ The first photo shows 35 rabbits. Hunters from left are Harry Skoog, Louis Bokelman, Ernest Bokelman, Ted Bokelman and William Bokelman. They were hunting near Genoa in 1923. The second photo is of Max Bokelman with a coyote he shot with a .22 caliber rifle in probably October of 1947 near Ulysses. Thanks for a great magazine which always has great photography. – Herm Bokelman, Venice, Florida ▲
