Though it is rare to see an ELI
windmill on the landscape, a
fully-restored version, originally
manufactured in the one-story factory,
now stands in the parking lot across the
street from the museum.
When the factory reopened as a
museum in 1993, the opportunity to
provide unique educational experiences
to the public was realized. Touch-

Hundreds of bottled samples of sand,
gravel and soil from each ELI windmill
drilled and installed in eastern Nebraska
and western Iowa can be found at the
factory.
