Christmas Bird Counts
Christmas Bird Counts will take place Dec. 14-Jan. 5. These
counts were initiated in 1900 as an alternative to Christmas
hunts and there are now more than 2,300 counts worldwide.
Nebraska's first count was in Lincoln in 1908 and currently there
are approximately a dozen active counts held across the state.
Visit Noubirds.org and search under Activities for specific times
and locations across the state.

Light Up the Fort
Fort Robinson State Park will ring in the holiday season with
its annual Light Up the Fort and Christmas Dinner on Dec. 5.
Community members join in the effort to decorate the park's
many historical buildings, which will shine bright that evening
through New Year's Day. Each year the annual feast features
the menu from a different time in the fort's history, and many
attendees get into the spirit by dressing in attire from the period.
This year, 1891 is in the spotlight.
