56 NEBRASKAland • APRIL 2016 T hroughout Nebraska, school students grades 4-7 are invited to participate in the Outdoor Discovery Program, as it provides youth with additional opportunities for numerous hands-on adventures in the outdoors. In addition, these activities are designed to correlate with Nebraska's state educational standards in science, history, math, reading and writing. These opportunities include engaging in shooting sports, fishing, archery, outdoor cooking, kayaking, wildlife identification, scheduled demonstrations, live animal displays, camping games and more. Below are the dates for this year's Outdoor Discovery events: Platte River State Park: April 13-14 Scottsbluff Trails West YMCA Camp: April 26-27 Fort Kearny State Recreation Area: May 5-6 For more information on the Game and Parks Commission's outdoor education programs, visit Outdoornebraska.gov/ODP.
