Piebald Mule Deer
He is a bit of a celebrity in this area and everyone was
hoping he made it through the rifle season. I couldn't
find him for quite awhile, and then one day I spotted
him all proud with his first antlers.

Jack Irons sent in this trail cam photograph of tom turkeys from behind his home
south of Brock.
Jake Kroeger captured this photo of a hawk near a deer carcass east of Schuyler.
Outdoor Plates
Al Thomas has a plate for both of
his great passions: bird hunting and
bird carving. Inspirations for the latter
come from the former for the retired art
teacher from Omaha.
If you have a unique outdoor
message plate you would like to share,
or know someone who does, e-mail a
photo (high-resolution, JPEG format
only, please) of it to Eric.Fowler@
Nebraska.gov, along with your name,
hometown and a brief description of
the interests expressed on your license
plate.
Prairie Dog Supporter
Dear NEBRASKAland,
On behalf of Wachiska Audubon Society, the local chapter
of the National Audubon Society, I would like to thank you
for your recent article
in the Dec. 2015
NEBRASKAland
Magazine entitled
"Prairie Dog Town
Tenants." This article
gives Nebraskans a
great insight into all
of our native wildlife
that inhabit prairie
dog towns and how
important these towns
are to all the different
species.
