MAY 2017 • NEBRASKAland 35 Plant for Pollinators Ongoing Statewide Pollinators, including bees, butterfl ies, birds, ants, and many other species, play a critical role in our food production, economy and natural landscapes. Help provide them with the nourishment they need to survive by planting sources of pollinator food and habitat. You can fi nd a list of recommended plants that are native to the Midwest at OutdoorNebraska.org/ gardening. Sesquicentennial Celebrations roughout the month Statewide Celebrations continue this month in honor of Nebraska's 150th birthday last March. The following are a sampling of events; for a full list and complete descriptions, visit ne150.org. On May 7, the Omaha Symphonic Chorus will present a concert featuring songs that celebrate the singers' ancestral heritages. Starting May 3, the Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art in David City will show "150 Artists, 150 Artworks, 150 Years of Nebraska in Miniature," a large-scale juried art exhibit. Are you a creative person? Starting May 30, you can submit artwork in the "150 Nails" Contest sponsored by the Buffalo County Historical Society. Pieces must include – you guessed it – 150 nails.
