Try grilling by the lake, swimming at a park pool, taking a camping or fi shing trip, or going boating. Several parks, including Fort Robinson, Platte River and Eugene T. Mahoney state parks, are offering special buffets and menus. JUNE 2017 • NEBRASKAland 35 Photographing Wildflowers Throughout the month Statewide A variety of wildfl owers are blooming across the state, such as black-eyed Susan, pale purple conefl ower, purple spiderwort, common milkweed, shell leaf penstemon and ox-eye daisy. As for where to go: In eastern Nebraska, visit Indian Cave State Park, Rock Creek Station State Historical Park and Fort Atkinson State Historical Park. Calamus State Recreation Area is a good bet in central Nebraska; in the west, visit Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area. Nebraska Sesquicentennial Events Throughout the month Statewide Celebrate Nebraska's 150th this month by enjoying festivals in Omaha, Dannebrog, Blair, Papillion, North Platte, Holdrege, Cortland, Beatrice and Crofton. Attractions at the various events include parades, live music, activities for kids, local food and more. Also, don't miss Ash Hollow State Historical Park's Pageant on June 16-17, with live music and performances celebrating the stories of travelers on the Oregon- California Trail.
