An official Nebraska sesquicentennial signature event,
150 Years of Nebraska Storytelling: A Conference
Celebrating Nebraska History Through Literature will be
at Ponca State Park Aug. 6-8, 2017.
This one-time event invites participants to explore
Nebraska history and the art of storytelling through
a series of educational experiences, including author
presentations, writer's workshops, American Indian
perspectives and more.
The event will feature over 15 authors who have a deep
connection to Nebraska and a variety of genres. Speakers
include Nebraska Educational Television broadcasting legend
Ron Hull, Neihardt biographer and journalist Tim Anderson,
Nebraska State Poet Twyla Hansen, fiction and non-fiction
writer Karen Shoemaker, historian Jeff Barnes, non-fiction
writer Preston Love, Jr. and many more.
The three-day conference fee is $85, all meals included.
Lodging is an extra fee. Students and educators who plan on
commuting daily to and from the conference will receive a
20 percent discount on registration; students and educators
who plan to lodge at the park will receive a 30 percent
discount on registration.
Ponca State Park has four-bedroom mini lodges, two-
bedroom green cabins, RV sites and tent sites available.
