This is one of the first pheasants John
Bachman and I bagged. We started hunting
together in 1965 when we were first able
to drive. John and I have continued to hunt
together every year since and share many
wonderful memories.
Today, we still hunt together but our
hunting party has grown to include our
sons and grandkids. John and I have each
had several hunting dogs over the years
but we now rely on our sons to supply the
dogs.
A great family tradition.

This is a photo of Guy Cole, age 79,
of Emmet.
When we took this picture, a grandson
asked Guy, "I suppose this will be the
last goose you will ever get?"
Guy just answered, "No it isn't."

This picture was taken of my dad, Larry Gathye, and Bob
Schmitz while grouse and duck hunting in October of 1964. The
photo was taken near Ainsworth. Roger Mason and Bob Mason
are not pictured but were and still are regular hunters with my
dad. Roger, Bob and dad still deer, grouse, turkey, and pheasant
hunt every year, plus go on many fishing trips throughout the
year. The car in the background is a 1958 Chevy. I started
tagging along with them at a very early age. Many of my fondest
memories are hunting with those guys.
