Fremont and Dodge County have surprises waiting for any traveler looking for an authentic small town Nebraska experience. Those looking for adventure can find it in Bryson's Airboat Tours. The Platte River might be a docile stream of water passing through Nebraska, but once you take a ride on one of Bryson's airboats, the river transforms into a scenic speedway. Looking for more ways to explore in the area? Stay the weekend at one of Dodge County's many campgrounds including Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area and boat, fish, hike and camp at one of Nebraska's most diverse outdoor destinations. You can also visit Camp Fontanelle and zip line across a ravine through 150 acres of woods. When you are looking to unwind after a long day of activities, snuggle up in one of the camp's unique 'treeboats' perfect for sleeping under the stars. Pop in a movie in their outdoor screen projector to enjoy before bed. After the rush of adventure, visitors should stop at the local restaurants favorited by the locals. Choose from over 80 menu items at the Wooden Windmill. Travelers will be impressed when they pull up to this unique stop and see a beautifully crafted windmill as the entrance to the restaurant. Visitors looking for the best barbeque in town should look no further than Huey's Smokehouse BBQ or Baby Huey's Barbeque both located in Fremont. Anyone feeling nostalgic for when life was simple and the food was greasy can stop in to Mel's Diner in Fremont. This classic 50's inspired diner has every breakfast, lunch or dinner item you would expect at a diner with daily specials that are sure to impress. Whether you are a natural born explorer or a cultural ambassador, a visit to Fremont and Dodge County is just what you're looking for.
