For 16 years the fort has welcomed candlelight tour visitors, and this
November will be the 17th. Based on actual fort events, the popular
tour sells out every season.
One year the talk buzzed of the presidential election: Adams' 1824
victory was an embroiling one, indeed. Some years centered on a
mystery – a petty theft or crime or misadventure – who would take
such little heed? There were also nights before a funeral, to embalm
soldiers who sadly died in surgery. Next come inside the dusty wood
shop, where those eerie coffi ns may still be seen.
