What to Do in December
Time Well Spent
D
on't let chilly temps stop you from getting outdoors and having fun this month.
There's still plenty of hunting and wildlife viewing opportunities, not to mention a
lot of fun holiday-themed park events. For a full list of Game and Parks events across
the state, visit Calendar.OutdoorNebraska.gov.

Pheasant Hunting
Throughout the month
Statewide
There are still plenty of birds out
there, and some of the most exciting,
memorable hunts are still ahead.
To increase your success during this
time of the year, think and hunt a little
differently. This could include simple
things like working the cover in an
opposite direction than usual, hunting at
a different time of the day, or even just
beginning at the spot in the fi eld where
you normally end. Be sure to wear plenty
of orange and avoid any unnecessary
loud noises that would alert the birds.
Wildlife Viewing
Throughout the month
Statewide
Bighorn sheep are currently in rut
– come out to Fort Robinson and
Chadron state parks for a chance to
see it. If you're interested in wildlife
that is a little easier to spot, consider
participating in a Christmas Bird Count
event. Contact an Audubon center
near you for more information. Also,
stay tuned to the Nebraska Game and
Parks calendar page for additional bird
watching events.
