Prepare for Turkey
Hunting
Throughout the month
Statewide
Spring shotgun season is just weeks away. To
prepare, Game and Parks Big Game Program
Manager Kit Hams has a few recommendations:
Pattern your shotgun, buy a box call and practice,
and listen to turkey calls online. He also advises
scouting for places to hunt within 100 miles of
your home. Arrive at fi rst light, listen for
gobbles, use binoculars to search for birds,
and take a walk to locate likely roosting,
feeding and display areas by searching for
birds, tracks or droppings.
Print out this turkey target to
pattern your shotgun.
