What to Do in March Time Well Spent W ith warmer months approaching, there's plenty to look forward to on the horizon, but don't forget to take advantage of outdoor opportunities now. The following are a few ideas to get you started. For more information on outdoor events across the state, visit Calendar.OutdoorNebraska.gov. ■ Fishing for Northern Pike Throughout the month Statewide Early spring is a great time to fi sh for northern pike. Spawning is currently underway, which means pike are coming into the rooted vegetation of the shallows. During and immediately after spawning, pike can be caught by working the shallows with various baits. That is the time when a pike's metabolism rate is ready for it to start feeding.
