This year's event has a special focus on 1812, specifi cally the War of 1812 and its connection to the fort, with special displays onsite from the Archives of Ontario and the Naval Museum in Washington D.C. The weekend's activities also include a visit from Dolly Madison and other historical presentations. JUNE 2018 • NEBRASKAland 27 2nd Annual National Marina Day June 9 Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area It's boating season, and there are few places better to celebrate than at Nebraska's second largest reservoir, Lewis and Clark Lake, during their National Marina Day event June 9. The day includes kayaking, archery, fi shing clinic, boat tours, sandcastle building contest, fi sh fry, hayrack ride and more. The event also offers an educational angle, with talks on boating safety, wetland habitats and aquatic invasive species; a fi sh cleaning demonstration; and a search and rescue dive demonstration. Visit a Nebraska Beach Throughout the month Statewide Nebraska and beaches – two words you don't tend to associate with one another . However, a number of inviting beaches and lakes can be found throughout the state. Some of our favorites are at Lake McConaughy, Calamus, Louisville, Windmill, and Summit state recreation areas.
