The Call of the Road
The 2016 Nebraska Passport program kicked off with
a record number of travelers participating during the first
two months. Travelers from 214 Nebraska communities
have hit the road to discover new places and destinations
that were unknown to them before. Travelers from 20 other
states and 2 other countries are also experiencing 80 of the
best attractions in Nebraska, from fascinating makers on the
"How It's Made" tour to the culinary delights on the "Order
Up!" tour. The top three destinations receiving the most
visitor traffic thus far are Indigo Bridge Books in Lincoln,
Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark Visitor's Center in
Nebraska City, and Eat restaurant in Dodge.
Many participants have submitted their Passport adventure
stories at NebraskaPassport.com/Adventures/, highlighting
various stops on the program. Ivy, from Omaha, said this
about Bootleg Brewers in Taylor:
"A 6-mile drive off the main highway through gorgeous
rolling pastures and we were in awe over the most adorable
little cabins and fantastic modern-industrial brewery and
tavern. We were delighted by the owners, their down-to-earth
nature, and just the overall "cool" factor…Bootleg Brewers
is the Cheers of the prairie! Such an awesome stop!"
Deb, from Atkinson, said this about the Potter Duckpin
Bowling Alley, featured on the "Earth + Sky" tour:
"There are not enough characters available to write how
impressed we were with the Duckpin Bowling Alley, our
gracious hosts and the town of Potter. Potter is a cute little
town with many interesting small shops. We can hardly wait
to make another trip out to the Panhandle and spend more
time there … we will visit again soon."
