NOVEMBER 2016 • NEBRASKAland 59 Winter Reservations Cabin Notes: With 15 mini-lodge cabins and two "green" cabins open during the winter, Ponca State Park in Dixon County has whatever you need to fulfi ll your winter family needs. Use these lodging options, and their discounted off-season rates, as a home base for winter fun at one of Nebraska's most beautiful state parks. For reservations, visit Outdoornebraska.org and click on Reservations. The Aftermath E ach family faded back toward the city throughout the afternoon, agreeing to do it again the next fall. Since that weekend, I've heard from each of the families throughout the year, who all agreed that the snow- covered trip to Ponca would go down in history as one of the best, if not the best, in our time visiting. What Ponca State Park showed us was that it doesn't matter what the weather is. If it's raining, we'll play in the mini- lodges. If it's autumn-like, w e'll hike the trails, ride the roads, and look for wildlife. And if it snows, all we need are the sleds. And a camera. For the world totally opens up at Ponca when it's blanketed by white. ■ George Chin of Omaha is all smiles after catching a rainbow trout at the pond.
