Cornhusker Trapshoot
May 3-5
The home grounds of the Nebraska Trapshooting Association in
Doniphan
As one of the nation's longest running and largest tournaments of its kind, with
about 2,500 junior and senior high competitors annually, the Cornhusker Trapshoot
is a unique experience for any onlooker. Keeping in mind the sound of thousands of
rounds of shotgun shells exploding; the talking, clapping and cheering of friends,
family, teammates and coaches; and the smell of spent gunpowder mingling in the air
with grilling burgers, funnel cakes and barbecue, trapshooting coach Joel W. Helmer
describes the experience as "an event like no other."
