was raised on a farm in Pierce County. Always a lover of the outdoors, birds became a special interest growing up – an interest that still remains today. "I was unable to play sports as a youth because of back problems," he said during a recent conversation. Because of this his parents bought him a guitar, then a drum set. When he was around 20 years old he had a friend who had a SLR camera. While intrigued, its complexities overwhelmed him at the time. "Then, years later, I met a man who owned a SLR but was looking for a drum set. We made the swap and the rest is history." Nowadays, Zechmann is rarely without his camera, a Nikon D600, and has dedicated his life to being closer to wildlife.
