was raised on a farm in Pierce County.
Always a lover of the outdoors, birds
became a special interest growing up –
an interest that still remains today.
"I was unable to play sports as a
youth because of back problems," he
said during a recent conversation.
Because of this his parents bought
him a guitar, then a drum set. When
he was around 20 years old he had
a friend who had a SLR camera.
While intrigued, its complexities
overwhelmed him at the time. "Then,
years later, I met a man who owned
a SLR but was looking for a drum
set. We made the swap and the rest is
history."
Nowadays, Zechmann is rarely
without his camera, a Nikon D600,
and has dedicated his life to being
closer to wildlife. He moved to the
northern edge of Lincoln a few years
ago because of the wildlife diversity
