t's my tag," Wymore landowner Rex Adams will tell you when he's talking
to hunters about deer. "I'll choose what I choose to shoot, and you'll choose
what you choose." It's a pretty good concept to live by, and one that Rex
has advocated for as long as he can remember. It eliminates the comparisons of
one deer to the next, for they're all trophies and to be congratulated when big
antlers aren't the most important thing to consider. What is important to Rex,
however, is family – something that has been valued more than anything else in
the Adams home for years.
For nearly 20 years, Rex owned Adams Bottles & Bows in Wymore, a
convenience store/bow shooting range/seasonal deer check-in station that
welcomed thousands of visitors, including hunters in every season. It was
there that his son Frosty, just 4 years old when Rex opened the store, became
mesmerized by deer and deer hunters. "I also took Frosty hunting from the time
