At these workshops, you'll learn more about these fascinating creatures, as well as how to make a pollinator garden. 36 NEBRASKAland • AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2016 By Renae Blum Ponca Tribe of Nebraska Powwow Aug. 14 Niobrara State Park Traditionally, powwows celebrated the fall harvest, successful hunts, and all the births, deaths and weddings of tribe members during the previous year. They were also gathering places for relatives, friends and other tribes. At this modern powwow, join with the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska in celebrating their heritage.
