been taken before 1980. We will give priority to unusual photos or activities. When possible, please include a story about the photograph and identify the
people, places and approximate date it was taken. Photos will be returned.
Hunts like this occurred at the Ray Pierson goose pits at Lewellen through the 1970s. Most of the time our
limit was met by 10 a.m. daily then to his garage to clean them. Every man had a job and we were done in a few
hours. Same guys for several years. Great fun. I am pictured in the red vest.

Attached is a photo of me when I was
10½. I had received my Winchester 16 gauge
shotgun for my 10th birthday that July. We
visited my aunt and uncle on the homestead
a mile north of Shickley for Christmas, 1955. I
went hunting with my dad, Frank Johnson, and
uncle, Cliff Bahr. This is me proudly holding
my first pheasant. The farm cat had to get it's
tail in the photo too. I still have the shotgun 60
years later and still do some target shooting,
but walking the corn fields is getting difficult.
My wife and I have lived on the Gulf coast of
Florida for 40 years, but still enjoy frequent
visits back to Nebraska to visit family and
enjoy the beautiful scenery. I love the photos in
NEBRASKAland.
